Lando Norris claimed back-to-back Grand Prix victories at Zandvoort, turning pole position into a second consecutive win for McLaren in a race shaped by an early red flag, changing strategies and a late fight for the final podium places.
The race was thrown into chaos almost immediately when Max Verstappen crashed heavily on the opening laps after a frantic start that also saw contact with Lewis Hamilton and Liam Lawson. The Dutchman was thankfully able to walk away, but the incident brought out the red flags and reshuffled the race.
When racing resumed, Kimi Antonelli produced one of the standout drives of the afternoon. He took the lead from Norris at the restart and spent much of the race managing the Mercedes' strategy while Norris stayed within striking distance. McLaren's pace eventually told, with Norris making the decisive move on Antonelli before building a comfortable advantage.
The battle behind them went right down to the closing laps. George Russell was ordered to let Antonelli through as Hamilton attacked his former team-mate for third, while Charles Leclerc also joined the fight. Hamilton came close but could not find a way past, leaving Russell to secure the final podium place, with Hamilton fourth and Leclerc fifth.
For McLaren, it was another major statement after their breakthrough in Hungary. Norris now has consecutive Grand Prix wins, while Piastri endured another difficult afternoon, eventually finishing sixth after the earlier strategy and traffic problems. And for Zandvoort, the final Dutch Grand Prix delivered a suitably dramatic farewell.
