Formula 1 returns to Zandvoort this weekend for what will be the final Dutch Grand Prix at the circuit for the foreseeable future.

The Netherlands returned to the F1 calendar in 2021 after a 36-year absence, with the event quickly becoming one of the most distinctive races on the schedule.

Much of that revival has been driven by the enormous support for Max Verstappen, whose home race became one of the standout events of the season.

Verstappen won the first three editions after the return, before McLaren took over in the last two years, with Lando Norris winning in 2024 and Oscar Piastri taking victory in 2025.

This year's event will also be the first Dutch Grand Prix to feature the Sprint format.

The race's departure is the result of the current agreement with Zandvoort running only through the 2026 season. The promoter previously decided not to extend the contract beyond this year.

That makes this weekend more than just another round of the championship. It is the end of the current Zandvoort chapter in Formula 1, with no Dutch Grand Prix currently scheduled for the seasons ahead.
