Our Data

Last updated: July 2026

1Lap runs on a mix of hand-entered race information and numbers calculated automatically behind the scenes. Here's a simple look at how it all comes together.

Race Weekends

Every session time, qualifying result, and race classification is entered by hand during each Grand Prix weekend, sourced from official results. This is the foundation everything else on the app is built from.

Championship Standings

Drivers' and Constructors' standings are calculated automatically from every race result entered so far in the season, using that season's official points system.

Career Statistics

Numbers like race starts, wins, podiums, and pole positions are also calculated automatically. Each stat starts from a verified historical total and adds each new result on top as it happens, so the numbers stay accurate and current.

Circuit History

Records like "most wins at this circuit" follow the same approach, a verified starting point, updated automatically as new races take place there.

Championship Outlook

The "still in contention" indicator on the standings screen is calculated from each driver and team's current points, the points still available for the rest of the season, and a realistic sense of how the season is likely to play out, not just a theoretical best case.

Everything Else

Details like nationalities, team histories, fun facts, and social links are researched and written by hand, since they're not the kind of information a calculation can produce.

Wherever a number can be reliably calculated from real results, it is, automatically, and kept up to date. Everything else is written with care, one fact at a time.
